Mental Health Counselor 

Mental Health counselors work as primary health caregiver for their patients. Duties of a mental health counselor include conducting mental health assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, leading individual or group therapy sessions, running preventative mental wellness classes or workshops and making treatment referrals.

SALARY:  The median annual salary for mental health counselors was $40,580 per year as of May 2013 BLS data. At the low end, 25 percent of counselors earned at or below $32,170, with 10 percent at or below $25,840 per year.
       
   Mental health counselors are trained in the use of various therapies to assist clients with mental and emotional issues, as well as issues such as job problems. Requiring empathy and excellent listening skills, this career is best for individuals who are emotionally stable and mature. In order to become a licensed mental health counselor in most states, a master's degree is required.
